Cliff Richard (1940) is a British pop singer. He was the first British rock 'n roll idol, when he made his debut in the 1950s. Despite his long career he is seen as part of the establishment, singing clean and safe pop songs, often about his Christian faith.

He is also well known for being a bachelor for his entire life. His sexuality has often been a matter of dispute.

Portrayal on "Spitting Image"

He was usually depicted as a naive man who tried to spread his believe in Christianity. Quite a lot of jokes were about his supposedly ancient age and the contrast between his image as a young pop star. Richard was often seen together on the show with Archbishop Robert Runcie and Mary Whitehouse. One notorious Spitting Image sketch featured his aging sperm cells, still waiting for their first ejaculation.
