Tomorrow Belongs To Me was a song produced by Spitting Image, and served as the finale of the 1987 Election Special . The song was taken directly from the musical Cabaret, where it is a rousing Germanic ode to the Fatherland, sung by a young member of the Hitler Youth and a chorus of Germans.

The main singer of Spitting Image version of the song is a young boy dressed as a London Banker, (in place of the Hitler Youth Member), as well as members of the Conservative Party as the song progresses. The imagery of the song in Spitting Image was taken directly from the film version of Cabaret, including the German-style dress and setting.

Spitting Image - Tomorrow Belongs To Me

Spitting Image - Tomorrow Belongs To Me

(Young Banker)
The sun on the meadow is summery warm,
The stag in the forest runs free.
But gathered together to greet the storm –
Tomorrow belongs to me.

The branch on the linden is leafy and green,
The Rhine gives it gold to the sea.
But somewhere a glory awaits unseen –
Tomorrow belongs to me.

The babe in the cradle is closing his eyes,
The blossom embraces the bee.
But soon, says a whisper, arise, arise!
Tomorrow belongs to me!

Oh fatherland, fatherland, show us a sign,
Your children are waiting to see!
The morning will come when the world is mine,
Tomorrow belongs, tomorrow belongs, tomorrow belongs to me!

(Douglas Hurd)
Yeah!

(All)
Oh fatherland, fatherland, show us a sign,
Your children are waiting to see!
The morning will come when the world is mine,
Tomorrow belongs, tomorrow belongs, tomorrow belongs to me!

(Roy Hattersley)
So, you still think you control them, Neil ?

(All)
Oh fatherland, fatherland, show us a sign,
Your children are waiting to see!
The morning will come when the world is mine,
Tomorrow belongs, tomorrow belongs, tomorrow belongs to me!
Tomorrow belongs, tomorrow belongs…

(Margaret Thatcher)
Tomorrow belongs to me…
